Happy New Year

January 4th, 2010 by Mike

If you are reading this, you too made it successfully through the holiday season of 2009, the close of the ‘00 decade, and into the start of another new year.  Congratulations on that!  I hope that you had a great holiday, ate well, and were able to spend time with family and reminisce.

For us, the end of the year is a busy time.  We do carve out some time for family but the reality is that once the growing season ends, we have so much work to do.  As an active farm, we have to plan out the upcoming season at the same time as juggling order fulfillment.  And before we can fill seed orders, we have to get all of the seed ready for sale.  A lot of tasks to cram into a finite amount of time.

As we get seed cleaned, tested, packaged and ready to sell, I get it added back into inventory and onto the web site.  Please check back often for new additions and updates.

If you are customer of ours, you know that we work very hard at getting orders out as quickly as possible. We really do work long hours (12 to 16 hour days are common for Denise and I) trying to keep our order fulfillment times short.  However, our backlog can get pretty long.  Please check the main Victory Seeds™ Web Page for current times.

That said, I better wrap this up and get back to work!

Happy Holidays

December 19th, 2009 by Mike

With the days of 2009 coming to a fast close, I would like to thank all of our gardening friends and family who have supported our seed preservation work this past year.  We greatly appreciate it.

Just a quick update . . . I spent some much needed time updating the Victory Seeds™ website today.

I hope to use this blog as a communication tool.  I am not sure how this will evolve or what kinds of things I will write about.  Stay tuned.  :)

Where To Begin?

July 20th, 2009 by Mike

With this post, I place yet another iron in the fire.  Another demand for my time.  But obviously, I would not have taken the time to research, download, learn, and install this blog software if I had not thought that communicating with you was valuable.

For those of you who are friends, family, old customers and supporters of our seed preservation work, you already know that we have become extremely busy.  This has drastically limited my ability to personally and regularly interact with you.  Years ago I tried to create a monthly email and web-based newsletter.  That ceased.  I try to keep up with email.  Some always fall through the cracks.  This year, we even had to forgo the publication of a catalog!  It was a tough decision.

I hope that I can successfully use this tool as a method for keeping you up to date with the major happenings on the farm and what is going on within the Victory Seed Company and extracurricular projects like the Victory Horticultural Library.  I also trust that the blog’s ability for you to write comments will serve to keep a line of communication open.
